Adopt a Pet from South Bend Animal Resource Center

Ready to bring home a dog or cat? Browse the animals looking for homes, then apply for the one you're interested in. Every pet is adopted fully vetted — spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

How adoption works

  1. Find a pet.

Browse the animals available now on Petfinder. Since an application is for a specific animal, start with the one who catches your eye.

  2. Apply.

Fill out the adoption application online — it only takes a few minutes, and you can do it before you visit. Not sure yet? Stop in during open hours and our adoption staff can talk it through with you first.

  3. We review and reach out.

Applications take 24 to 48 hours to process. Once you're approved, SBARC emails or calls you to set up a meet-and-greet.

  4. Meet your pet.

Once you're approved, you'll meet the animals by appointment — our adoption staff help you find one that matches your home, lifestyle, and personality.

  5. Take them home.

When it's the right fit, pay the adoption fee and your new pet goes home with you already fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

SBARC runs reduced-fee adoption specials throughout the year — ask about any current offers when you apply.
